Find and fix the accessibility failures on your Shopify store
EAA accessibility fixes scans your storefront with the same open-source engine (axe-core) many accessibility auditors use, tells you how each failure gets fixed, and keeps dated evidence of your progress for the European Accessibility Act.
What it does
Scans your storefront
Home page, catalogue, a product page, search and cart, checked against WCAG 2.1 AA rules. Rescanned every week, with a note when something got worse.
Tells you how to fix each failure
Every failure is sorted by fix path: automatic, assisted, design change or manual. Where it can, the app drafts the change: a text colour that passes contrast, a missing label or link name.
Drafts product image alt text
For product photos without alt text, AI drafts a description. You read each one, edit it, and save or skip it. Nothing is saved without you.
Keeps the evidence
A dated log of Scans, fixes and your approvals, so you can show what you checked and what you changed.
What it doesn't do
It does not add an overlay or widget to your store, and it does not claim your store is compliant. Automated tests can't judge everything: whether an image description is accurate, or whether a custom popup traps keyboard users, still needs a person. Read what an automated scan can and can't find before you rely on any tool, ours included.
How fixes reach your store
- Run a Scan from the app in your Shopify admin.
- Read the Issues and the suggested changes.
- Make them yourself in Online Store › Themes › Edit code, or, on Done-for-you, ask our team to apply them to a Draft theme.
- Compare the Draft theme with your live theme in the app, approve, and publish it yourself when you're ready.

Questions
Does this app make my store compliant with the European Accessibility Act?
No app can promise that, and you should be wary of any that does. Automated tests find a large share of common failures, but not all of them: things like whether alt text is accurate or whether checkout works with a keyboard need a person to check. The app finds and fixes the common failures automated tests can see, and keeps a dated record of what you did about them.
Is this an accessibility overlay or widget?
No. The app adds no script to your storefront. Fixes are changes to your theme's code and settings, made on a Draft theme you compare and publish yourself. In 2025 the US Federal Trade Commission fined an overlay vendor US$1 million for claiming its widget made sites compliant.
Which pages does a Scan check?
Your home page, the catalogue, one product page, search and the cart: the templates most of your store is built from. After your first Scan the app scans again every week and tells you when something got worse.
Does the app change my live theme?
No. On the Done-for-you plan our team applies fixes to a Draft theme, the app compares it with your live theme, and you publish it when you are happy. AI alt text drafts are saved to a product image only when you press Save.
Does it read my customers or orders?
No. Scans load your storefront the way a visitor does. The app stores your store's address, Scan results and its evidence log; the privacy policy lists everything.
Does the European Accessibility Act apply to my store?
It applies to online stores selling to consumers in the EU since 28 June 2025, including stores based outside the EU. Microenterprises providing services (fewer than 10 people and at most €2 million annual turnover or balance sheet) are exempt from the service requirements. Our guide explains the details; it is not legal advice.
